If I needed to complete a collection...yes, but I'd be upset if I didn't purchase when released.

Other than that... no. It has reached it's high point. If anything sell and make a 100% profit!

The best time to aquire this set was 1 year ago or very shortly thereafter. I do think it will keep going up though, it is really a bulletproof item. Three closed 1-year type coins are in the set, they are proof, they are buffalos, they are all low mintage, and intact sets will continue to be parted out and cannibalized, thus increasing the scarcity of complete sets. It's one to hand down for generations.
It's just that the ground floor gave way on these a year ago, when there was a cornucopia of no-brainer mint offerings for sale --- proof and W-unc gold buffs and eagles and platinum eagles too. Any of those have done great and are there to stay, with some better than others (08 buffs) and some waiting for monster potential (plat uncs).
Luckily there is still a ground floor opportunity in spouses if you have the will to hold your nose and never open the boxes LOL, for example all 5 of the uncs currently for sale seem a lock to go sub-4000 with some fliritng w/ sub 3000.

Here are the new '08 pr buff mintage totals from mint website, along side old assumptions we've been going by recently. Keeping in mind the fractionals are 1-year type coins, these sets will continue to climb.

seems like the price of proof eagles has decreased recently.
used to be $2k per ounce and now its about $1500 per ounce for eagles proof.

see...prices do dip on this kind of stuff.

I do not agree, these are in the process of finding very strong hands, the kind that reecognize their significance & intend to keep them for decades. Fewer and fewer will be available.

I wasn't smart enough to buy a set when they came out, but I did buy a 1/2 proof '08 Buff. I think DH thinks I should sell it now and double the money, but I keep thinking it'll be worth more later.

What I wouldn't give for a crystal ball that really worked!

Bought some lunar tigers for $1,120 to $1,150. Considering POGs around $1,100.....not bad, no?
